Charles Babbage


Who was he?



Charles lived from December 26, 1791, to October 18, 1871. Charles was born in London, England. Charles started at Cambridge College in 1810. In 1812, he transferred to Peterhouse, where he finished his academic career. Over the course of his time, he studied mathematics, engineering, political economy, and computer science. Charles Babbage is most prominently known for conceiving the first automatic digital computer. He also helped the design of the difference engine.
